What happened? I got another Shit Office Job. Call me crazy, I like having benefits and health insurance and being able to pay rent.
And I returned to my Comfort Zone.
I found myself thinking: What was it all for? If I just ended up right back here? In the exact same place?
1989: computers were like a giant boulder. It had a black screen and lime green text!
I was in an office by myself all day long, doing completely meaningless work. There was no internet (until 1993 or 1994). No cell phones. I distracted myself by making notes and lists. Typing into blank documents. Typing out pages handwritten by professors. I even tried to be a novelist for awhile (I have no writing talent).
Oh, whoops, I lied. This is one undergrad painting I saved, along with those three post-grad Self-portraits. This was before The Magic of the Final Portfolio paintings. I painstakingly painted little squares, mixing a bit of white paint into the color for each row. I didn’t know what to do then. Note my Impatient Laurel Face at my boring Student Artwork.
