Last Monday, Symon was lounging in an unusual spot:
But then I got Lovey Blinks:
Last week I had an unexpected day home. The week before, the apartment complex emailed that it was time for the annual fire extinguisher inspection - Tuesday and Wednesday. I asked if they could come to our apartment on Tuesday the 15th. Steve also had the morning off, unexpectedly - they needed his desk at work for a meeting and told him to take the morning off. So we were both home Tuesday morning. Symon was very happy.
Then he was a Ginger Loaf:
About 11:00 we hadn't seen them so Steve called - and was told they were already at Bldg G. A few minutes later they arrived at our building. And they didn't just come to our apartment - they were going apartment by apartment, swiftly. The inspector was an older gentleman. Last year it was a younger guy and they forgot to come to our apartment the first day so they had to come back the next day. And he was late. This year they moved right on through the apartments.
The maintenance guy knows Symon. "Hey, how's Symon!" We needed a new extinguisher and, of course, the new extinguisher wouldn't fit in the old wall mount. But it only took a few minutes to install a new one and they were gone. Then Steve went to work.
Symon went to sleep on his bins.
I spent the afternoon sewing. This is an experiment I've been wanting to do for awhile, embroidering one of my leaves:
I also sewed some of my felt leaves. Remember them? Goodness how long have I been working on them? Over a year and a half? Almost two years? When was it that I cut them all out of the felt? I don't even remember. I have wanted to get them DONE. But they have languished. Well, I finished them up during the week. And I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them. Maybe make myself a wreath? Oh, who am I kidding, that's not me. I'm going to use them in layering on my big canvas pieces. Look, I laid them all out on a table:
The photo below was taken one morning this week. I was running late, but didn't care. Art takes priority! I can take the Late Bus. See my glass of iced coffee?
I'll talk more about this Art Journaling piece later. The white splotch next to her face is a Wasp that I cut out of paper - in little pieces, glued down in layers. The red spot is where she was stung. It's a metaphor. A Springtime Metaphor! I will explain later.
This embroidered piece is for the daughter of a Twitter friend. She asked us to send her daughter some inspirational quotes. I came up with this quote long ago, I just haven't gotten around to getting this done. But now it's done. Embroidered with waxed bookmaking thread.
I was going to finish the embroidery one evening, but it was very late and I had to get to bed. I ran out of thread right here - and it was too late to get more thread and wax it. But I took a photo because it's kind of funny at this stage. The World Needs Your Special Gif!
This was a Morning Symon:
