During 2012 I worked on a lot of my Putting Away Project, and it continued into 2013. In 2012 I mainly worked on physically sorting and Putting Away. I began with my Memphis artwork and Big Journals. I ordered a big stack of tan Stonehenge paper from Dick Blick online, and when it arrived and I began to tear it down for the Big Journals, I noticed that it was cut wrong - the deckled edge was cut on a curve, not straight. I emailed Dick Blick to tell them and they merely sent me my entire paper order again. So I wound up with twice as much paper. All of it cut slightly wrong. Had I been a printmaker I probably would have been upset, but this fortuitous occurrence allowed me to make several Big Journals.
I began 2013 in the middle of this huge project. I am also finding that some events, if described in blog posts, have been deleted. For example, the Symon Paint Incident, which may have only been on Twitter (it's too far back to scroll and read). I periodically went through my blog deleting old blog posts, especially ones that were full of complaining. So sometimes I think I have told a story, but then realize it's gone. Ah, well.
In 2014 I did blog posts writing about my childhood through Laurel, MD (2011), just before The Crash. I was also posting a lot on my Tumblr. Then, later on in the year I went back and did Typepad blog posts (start here and click forward) catching up what is now lost in my sea of Tumblr posts.
I also uploaded all of our photos to Shutterfly over the course of 2014.
I did a lot of Planks on the Bridge posts, showing how things were Put Away in the Big Journals.
In April of 2014 I finally gave up all of my paint. I also got rid of many other art supplies I was no longer using. I sent Suzi Blu all of my beads - I think it was when she was in Minneapolis. I followed a friend of hers in California who ran a non-profit art center, so I sent her a big box of stuff - all my rubber stamps (except my Suzi Stamp), my inks, some brushes, all my old charcoal, and various other miscellaneous art supplies (carving tools, etc.), many leftover from grad school in Memphis. Although they never sent me an acknowledgement receipt and I had to email them to be sure they received the box, so that kind of irritated me and I quit following them and unsubscribed from their newsletter. But the point is that I have been getting rid of my art supplies and tools that I quit using, because they just weren't working for me.
I am still working on the Martha Beck exercises. Still wondering when things in my life will really begin to change. I wrote this post on Shutting Down the Left Brain. Here is the Symon is Three post.
I also made my Big Journals tutorial posts, as I made the last few Big Journals for the Putting Away Project.
There are a lot of good blog posts (I think) in 2014. Since I did so many 2014 catch-up posts, I'm not going to include too many links here.
And here we are.
