I made a Report from the Chrysalis, and you can see a photo of four Women Paintings in progress, because I still wasn't happy with them. I kept painting over them, or gessoing and then painting over. I only finished and kept two of them (the two on top - Magenta and Blue Eyes).
Into 2012 I was still blogging sporadically. Working on my Suzi Blu Lovely Dream assignments. My blog jumps from January to April and May, showing some Art Journaling.
Tower One is from January of 2012. I liked brushing Strawberry red ink over brown eyes. (I always have to use the Symon Photo Bomb photo.)
Tower Two is from February of 2012. I was still using my cut-out shapes and rubber stamps, as well as other attempts at layering.
My Sing piece wasn't for a Lovely Dream assignment, it was just a bit of Art Journaling, using a Suzi stamp (the girl on the bicycle). This had to do with some childhood issues - speaking out and finding my voice, which I would in 2014 with my blog posts. And a reference to a Carpenters song which was popular when I was in grade school. Some of my Suzi classmates said they love to sing - but it wasn't about singing.
I also took Suzi Blu's Fairies class, which was a really nice class that included a lot of personal growth sorts of exercises. I don't think any of my Fairies turned out that great, but I did enjoy the class.
For one of the Lovely Dream assignments, Suzi wrote on a journal page in marker and then gessoed over it, covering the writing. I began writing in water-soluble pencil and crayon, then brushing over it with water, then gessoing over that. The liquid turned the writing into masses of color, the white gesso turned it kind of pastel.
Here is a post about the Lovely Dream grid assignment, showing some of the hidden writing, before I painted over it.
A post about Mermaid 3 ending up in the ALD Big Journal.
I finished my ALD Big Journal with a figure drawing I worked on while at the bus stop during the summer of 2012, waiting to come home. This was the summer we had a horrible heat wave. And, the summer bus schedule had the bus arriving well after I finished work. The buses were so sporadic that I didn't want to miss my bus, so I headed out early to wait in the heat. So I kept working on that figure drawing. The face drawings on the other page are also from 2012. The next summer they changed the bus schedule so I don't have to wait as long.
The Fairies class also had us working in our Butterfly Journal, which took me until late last year to fill up. And I started working in a sketchbook, but I didn't like the thin paper. So when I made my Big Journals from the tan Stonehenge paper I also made a smaller one for my Butterfly Journal.
Also during 2012 I began the Putting Away Project, starting with my Memphis artwork and photos. I also did some Art Journaling in the Memphis One Big Journal - here is a blog post showing some of it and discussing where I am going.
