So, it's the end of the year. I'm not going to post too many links to previous blog posts - they can be found in the Archives.
First, here is what I think is my cutest Find the Symon.
**Answer at bottom of blog post.**
2014 had a blog theme of 'Planks on the Bridge' - building a bridge back from the past, as I worked on my 'Putting Away' project, putting all of my photos, artwork, mementos, etc. into Big Journals or decorative boxes. And I completed that project, mostly - the only thing left to do is secure Journaling Project pieces in the Laurel Big Journal (but they are all taped down with masking tape, so all the sorting is done, just securing permanently is left to do).
I tried to paint over my drawings and messed them up, as usual.
Winter of 2014 was ridiculous for snow. We were so tired of the snow.
Symon, especially, did NOT approve of the snow.
I tried to work really big. But that wasn't what I needed to do.
I gave up my paint. I got rid of it all. I finished up most of it making a canvas of circles to stare at to shut off my Left Brain.
I turned 50 this year. I enjoyed my visit to Vancouver, BC for my birthday, courtesy of my siblings.
Coming home from Vancouver I strained my back, which put me in bed for a week. Thanks to a generous Amazon gift card from my best friend J., I got a Kindle. I love my Kindle. I love having a hand held device. I also began digitally uncluttering - scanning things to upload to our Cloud as well as backing up anything from our computer. Also this year I finished uploading all of our photos to Shutterfly (anything taken on the Kindle is automatically saved to the Cloud). I also discovered that the Kindle takes GREAT photos. Also with the Kindle I now have video capability. This early one was a cute one.
I did a series of Tutorial Blog Posts on how to make my Big Journals (this link is the first post which includes links to all other Big Journal tutorials). As part of my decluttering I made these posts mainly for myself so I don't need to keep notes written on papers, I can simply search my blog for instructions or materials (oh, yeah, each Big Journal is made of 6 sheets Stonehenge paper).
I was posting a lot of pictures on my Tumblr. But posts get easily lost in the sea of Tumblr posts and reblogging, so in August I did a series of Tumblr Recaps (start here and click forward). My Typepad blog will be my 'Blog of Record' and Twitter is for cell phone pics and Find the Symon. I'm not quite sure about my Tumblr, so it may be repeats of what is posted elsewhere. I will keep posting in all places and see where it takes me, or what sort of response I get (currently: *Crickets* ).
Most of 2014 was My Life Story posts, so now that I have caught up almost to the present, I will try to blog more Everyday Life posts. Sometimes Life Unhappiness gets in the way and I just can't get much of anything done.
I really like this post On Failure and living my life on my own terms. It's hard to hang onto those feelings. I am still trying.
I really liked these 12 Calm faces I drew for my Atlanta Big Journal.
In September I started a series called This Week in Feminist Issues on my Tumblr, because I saw so much good stuff on Tumblr, often phrased much better than I could. I haven't done one every week - check the 'Feminism' Category.
Musings on Turning 50. I wish I were as calm as I sometimes pretend to be.
I rather like our current Roleplaying Character Portraits (even though Steve changed the story so that Caylan, my Half-Orc, was really a Githyanki - I did not redo her portrait to show that.
We solved a problem for Symon and cleared the Recycling from his eating area.
The Best Thing I Saw On Tumblr All Year: Leopard Balls are Ginger.
Last Planks on the Bridge post after it was all Put Away.
I freaked out just a little bit before my December Colonoscopy.
I began taking photos (Kindle) of my evening sketching:
I am finally working without color:
My Christmas holiday was nice, being off work. However, my teeth and mouth were still sore from having three fillings the week before, and I got a cold sore, which I haven't had in years, so it was unpleasant chewing carefully only on one side and avoiding crunchy foods. Funny tidbit: I Tweeted about this and Sensodyne's Twitter feed replied and recommended their toothpaste (which I used when I was younger, for sensitive teeth). So we bought a tube of Sensodyne and within a few days my teeth were much, much better. This is me on Christmas Eve:

My two Snugglebugs:
Symon often claimed the computer chair, so Steve would use a kitchen chair. After Thanksgiving we finally bought a new computer chair. I don't have any photos of it, so when I take some I will post in a later blog post.
