So, how did I do with my July Project?
I did daily drawings for most of the month. When I forgot it wasn't a big deal. I looked at them as a group to see what they were saying to me. Reminders, most of them.
I made no progress on my two Fairy paintings.
I also have a secret project. Not ready to post yet.
I have a secret painting project, too (secret meaning I'm not ready to show yet).
The piece below is my 'Mask' piece for the Lovely Dream workshop. Suzi used a 'mask' - a shape that you put down and spray or paint over. I wasn't sure what to do, but I still had a mermaid shape cut out. I ended up getting out my old Mermaid 3 painting, taking it off of the dowel, ripping out stitches, and tearing it apart, keeping only the large face and the painted mermaid. I turned the rope and square dowel into a second Mousy Toy for Symon.
I added two emerging-from-cocoon drawings from Spring of 2011 and the drawing I did on July 1, 2012.
Remember these Mermaid masks? The one above her head was done in the original painting. I added the one to the right of the face after I tore up the painting and glued it down (in my Art Journaling book).
Then I tore up the paper Mermaid mask. She seems to represent sinking down into the dark depths of the ocean, but I'm beginning to emerge from the darkness, so I need new symbols.
Remember this? The original painting. I had stitched letters: TIME TO SET SAIL
That was Spring of 2011. We moved to Evanston, IL, hoping for a new life in the Chicago area. And we know how that worked out. Not.
Here she is in the original painting, back then.
And here she is now.
Does she look a little worse for wear?
