I'm with the Bloggess - I'm afraid if I try to blank my blog I may not be able to get it back up! (And it's not like I have a big audience at this time, anyway).
So, consider this post my protest.
I don't trust Congress, influenced by Lobbyists, to draft legislation that is fair or that reflects what is best for the populace (not the very wealthy). I don't want the power of law behind someone deciding a website or blog somewhere has violated copyright and therefore gets shut down.
I contacted both of my senators to let them know I do not approve of either internet censorship bill (regardless of what spin they put to it or what they want to call it). I can't open the link to email my Congressman - he already Tweeted and Facebooked that due to heavy volume Congressional websites are loading slowly. Good for us.
I found the issue best stated at http://fightforthefuture.org/ - the world is changing and it's not 1950 or 1970 or even 1990 anymore. The old ways are not working, and we're still trying to figure out what will take their place. But regressive punitive legislation that is so heavily lobbied by big corporations is - I'm sure - not the answer.
Here's to the future.
