Let me show you what was the Best Thing about 2007: our trip to Disneyworld in June! With Pat and her family. We loved it. We totally totally loved it. And we want to go back.
This was our first evening there. Sorry for the less-than-perfect quality of the photos - these are scanned from hard copies, since the originals were corrupted when the computer fell ill. The Disney photos were the only things we were really sorry we hadn't backed up.
Steve and Walt.
This was taken at Universal Studios. We spent one day there. We were extremely underwhelmed. Next time: only Disney! They do it best.
Pretty Giraffes on the Safari.
Another pretty Giraffe.
THE BEST THING at Disney was the Soarin' ride at Epcot. We went on it three times. Next time: Soarin' every day; go get Fast Passes first thing, then come back for Fast Pass time. The third time on Soarin' I took off my shoes, and that was cool! Steve recognized the actor playing the "guide" as The Tick (Patrick Warburton) - mainly by his voice.
After we got home, I looked online for a listing of all the places we flew over. I then looked up all those places on Google Maps so I could map out the route:
San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge
Redwood Creek - people in boats and fishing - South and East of San Francisco, half way to San Jose.
Napa Valley - hot air balloons - North and East of San Francisco, a U-turn from Redwood Creek.
Monterey Bay - ocean waves crashing over rocks - another U-turn at Napa Valley, South to the coast, about a third of the way from San Francisco to L.A.
Lake Tahoe - the skiers - From Monterey Bay, straight NE to Lake Tahoe, to the point where both state lines of California and Nevada turn to the Southeast.
Yosemite National Park - Yosemite Falls, with climbers and hang glider - straight South from Lake Tahoe to Yosemite.
Palm Springs - golfers - from Yosemite, South to L.A., then East to Palm Springs.
Camarillo - wind turbines - straight West, past L.A., nearly to the coast [some fan sites had postings from people who live in Camarillo who say that orange grove is no longer there]
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - horses and riders and then Thunderbirds - From Camarillo, straight SE, close to the Mexican border.
San Diego - Aircraft Carrier - From Anza-Borrego, straight SW, nearly to the Mexican border.
Mailbu - surfers at sunset - Back North, about halfway between Camarillo and L.A.
L.A. at night - Straight East from Malibu to L.A.
Disneyland - short ways SE from L.A. to Anaheim
